Fidelity Adds More HD Channels to Salem Lineup
Fidelity Cablevision is adding six new HD channels—and three new PBS channels—at no extra cost to its Salem customers.
Effective May 3, the new HDs are available on Fidelity's HD Basic Tier at no charge to HD/DVR subscribers. Fidelity now offers 52 HD channels in Salem.
The latest high-def additions are Nick HD on Channel 438, MTV HD on Channel 463, Spike HD on Channel 456, Comedy Central HD on Channel 451, CMT HD on Channel 480 and VH-1 HD on Channel 464.
These channels are the HD versions of popular channels also available in standard definition elsewhere in the lineup.
Digital customers also are seeing the addition of three new PBS channels—PBS World, PBS Create and PBS KIDS—on channels 160, 161 and 162 respectively.
Documentary, public affairs and news programming is available 24 hours a day on PBS World. The channel showcases the award-winning series viewers have come to identify with public television, providing member stations across the country with an outlet devoted exclusively to the best nonfiction programming from PBS.
More often called "do-it-yourself," the program genres seen on PBS Create TV include viewers' favorite public television series and specials on cooking, travel, arts and crafts, gardening, home improvement and other lifestyle interests. The programs seen on Create TV come from American Public Television, The National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) and Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).
PBS Kids, for preschoolers, and PBS Kids Go!, for early elementary school kids, are committed to providing the highest quality non-commercial content and learning environment for children across the country. Providing age-appropriate, diverse programming for kids, PBS Kids and PBS Kids Go! programs consistently earn more prestigious awards than any other broadcast or cable network. Only PBS Kids and PBS Kids Go! have earned the unanimous endorsement of parents, children, industry leaders and teachers.
"We continue to add more and more HD channels as they become available. We are also excited about these new PBS channels. A number of our customers have been requesting them," said Andy Davis, cable product manager.
The PBS channels are available to customers with digital service. In addition, if they have an HDTV with a built-in QAM tuner, they can view these networks on channels 116-3 to 116-5 without a digital box.
