Fidelity Takes A Stand Against Child Abuse at Rolla Fundraiser
ROLLA, MISSOURI, July 30, 2014—Fidelity Communications' lemonade stand at its Rolla office recently won first place for creativity in Phelps County Bank's 19th annual Take A Stand to prevent child abuse event.
The stand, themed "We Moustache You To Take A Stand Against Child Abuse," raised $336, including the first place prize that Fidelity donated back. Fidelity was also a $1,500 corporate sponsor of the event.
Countywide, $23,813 was raised to help the Phelps County Child Advocacy Network (PCCAN) fund child abuse and neglect prevention programs in the county. Groups sold lemonade and water to raise money.
"The whole office helped, braving the heat from 8 to 4," said Wendy Riggs, CLEC and Fidelity South Business Office Supervisor. Employees and their children worked two- or more hour shifts. Wendy thanked Todd Farrell of the Fidelity Marketing Department for creating the theme and posters.
Since the project was started several years ago, more than $350,000 has been raised for the fight against child abuse by selling lemonade and water over a two-day period. Last year's Take A Stand event raised over $28,000 in donations.
