Fidelity Toy Drive Raises $4500 for Lawton Charities
LAWTON, OKLAHOMA, Jan 2, 2013—Another successful Fidelity Christmas toy drive benefitted five local charities in Lawton over the holidays and assured many children of a better Christmas.
The drive, spearheaded by the Lawton Fidelity business office, raised $4,570 in cash and gift cards, plus 164 toys for local organizations to distribute.
"It was over $2,500 more than last year," said Donna Mahan, office manager. "As always, our customers came through. We had a great turnout again this year."
Customers who donated a $15 gift or $15 in cash or gift cards received free installation of Fidelity services—cable TV, Internet or phone. The toy drive started the week of Thanksgiving and ran through December 31.
"This is an exciting time for us," Mahan said. "We love doing this toy drive and the response was pretty amazing."
The drive benefitted the J. Roy Dunning Children’s Shelter (50 toys), Marie Detty Youth Services ($265 in cash, 46 toys and 39 gift cards), the Salvation Army ($1,535 in cash), Lawton Food Bank ($1,535 in cash), and the Armed Services YMCA ($590 in cash, 68 toys and four gift cards).
Last year’s drive raised $1,728 in cash and gift cards, "so this was a big jump," Donna said. "We couldn’t be happier with the results." Fidelity matched last year’s total with a $1,750 donation.
