Fidelity Chromebook Donation Improves Technology Access in Rolla, Mo. Elementary and Middle Schools

Jan. 11, 2023 - Rolla, MO – In an effort to help ensure students have the technological tools needed to be successful in school, Fidelity Communications recently donated 50 Chromebooks to the Rolla School District. Designed to help bridge the digital divide in Title 1 classrooms, the donation is part of the Fidelity Communications Chromebooks for Kids initiative.

The Chromebooks will be utilized in four Rolla District schools, including Mark Twain Elementary, Col. John B. Wyman Elementary, Harry S. Truman Elementary and Rolla Middle School.

William Lewis, Director of Technology for Rolla Public Schools, said that the Chromebooks will be used in a variety of academic areas, including Reading, Math and Communication Arts as a learning tool for furthering research and learning for students.

“These new Chromebooks will connect our students to the real world by removing the physical barriers of the classroom, prepare our students for the workforce, help foster collaboration in the academic sphere, support a diversity of learning styles and allow students to access information more easily,” Lewis said.

Since 2014, Fidelity and the other Cable One family of brands, have donated nearly 3,000 Chromebooks to Title 1 schools in the communities they serve.

Fidelity General Manager Sam McGill said the donation reflects Fidelity’s commitment to strengthening and improving Missouri communities, not only through its products and services, but through support of the local community.

“We understand that access to technology plays a critical role in helping ensure students achieve academic success,” McGill said. “Providing greater access to technology in our schools also improves the quality of students’ education and benefits the communities where we live and work for the long-term.”
